Zeke the Bullmastiff

Another Amazing Tripawds Three Legged Dog Blog

1 week post-amp!

Zeke had his surgery 1 week ago today and our big boy is doing so well!!  He is getting better and becoming more active (well, for a Bullmastiff!) each day.  He is eating standing up, getting up to follow you more often and his spirits are great!  He continues to amaze me!  He still hesitates going down the few stairs to go outside, but coming back up is much better.  It is still so very surreal to me that we ultimately had to amputate, but seeing that it actually took the pain away is confirmation enough that we made the right decision.  It’s about here & now with our dogs, no regrets.

I’m so happy to hear that Zeke is doing so well just 1 week post amp! He’s a beautiful boy!! My Jake also had to have his front right leg amputated due to bone cancer… He recovered very nicely and as soon as he got his staples out… he was swimming in our pool with his brother Wolfie.

Sending you and your big boy a big fat hug!!! 🙂

Zeke, you’re one handsome (and very big) boy! Glad to hear his spirits are great and he’s moving around better.

After six months, Catie still hesitates going down stairs. Being a front leg amputee, I suspect it’s a balance thing.

“…here & now with our dogs, no regrets.” Nicely put. 🙂

Thank you so much! I just read some of Jake’s blog, what a georgous boy!! He definitely loved the swimming pool, that is so cute!! I’m so sorry to hear about his passing, but for you to give him 8 weeks of quality life is an amazing gift and he will never be forgotten.
    Thanks for your comment,

Thanks Carmen and Catie! Zeke thinks he’s pretty handsome too. I think you’re right, with the front leg amputees, it has to be very difficult to balance going down stairs, it makes sense. Well thank you, going through all of this with Zeke has truly reminded me to focus on today, not yesterday or tomorrow.

Zeke, you are so pawesome! Hey I was a front leg Tripawd too. It took me a while to get the hang of going down stairs but eventually I learned how to lean against the wall to help me get down by myself. It freaked out my Mom but I showed her I could do it.

Glad to hear your recovery is going well! Keep it up!

Thanks! I’ve got some ideas on how to conquer those stairs and I’ll probably freak my Mom out too a few times, but I can do it!!! Thanks for the well wishes, I’m getting better every day! Zeke
